DSI Excellence Program for PhD students – scholarships available!

The UZH DSI Excellence Program for PhD students, a complementary curriculum to the doctorate in the respective field of study, is entering its third year. As every year, scholarships are offered to applicants with very good academic performance and interest in research on the impact of digitalization on society. We invite all interested applicants to apply for the DSI Excellence Program (start: September 2022) via the DSI website from 1 December 2021.

Parldigi MasterClass 2021

The Parldigi MasterClass is a series of events for parliamentarians consisting of three thematic modules and a concluding discussion event on a current political topic. Renowned researchers from the Universities of Zurich and Geneva as well as EPFL and ETHZ will present and discuss the latest scientific findings on the topics of artificial intelligence, cyber security and the Internet of the future. The continuing education morning will take place on Monday at the beginning of all four sessions in 2021 at the Federal Palace.

Prevalence of Hate Speech on Twitter in Switzerland and Strategies to Counter It

The new project financed by BAKOM combines natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning with civil society engagement to analyse the prevalence of online hate speech on Twitter in Switzerland and to identify effective strategies to counter it. The project is a collaboration between alliance F (Federation of Swiss Women’s Associations), the Digital Democracy Lab (UZH) and the Immigration Policy Lab (ETH).
